World Water Council
The World Water Council is an international organization that works towards increasing the awareness of high-level decision makers for water issues. The Council makes suggestions on how to secure the future of water and provide policy recommendations on development, management and efficient use. To put water high up on the political agenda, the World Water Council uses the power and diversity of its 300 members to investigate current and future problems and come up with joint solutions - especially during its triennial World Water Forum which is the largest water event in the world.
United Cities and Local Governments - UCLG
United Cities and Local Governments represents and defends the interests of local governments on the world stage since 2004. The organisation’s stated mission is: To be the united voice and world advocate of democratic local self-government, promoting its values, objectives and interests, through cooperation between local governments, and within the wider international community.
ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability
Local Governments for Sustainability, founded in 1990 as the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, is an international association of local governments and national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development.
Pacto das Aguas
The Pacto das Aguas is a program of the Department of the Environment of the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The program seeks to promote an agenda focused on recovery and conservation of water resources among the State’s municipalities. The Pacto das Aguas is a Brazilian adaptation of the Istanbul Water Consensus.
