Champion Cities
Champion Cities play a leading role among IWC signatories in transmitting knowledge and best practice in their chosen thematic area.
Champion Cities agree to:
- Coordinate a specific theme relevant to the issues Local and Regional Authorities face regarding water resources. Champion Cities are encouraged to collaborate with other cities, particularly those in developing countries, via twinning initiatives or city networks;
- Develop a network of Local and Regional Authorities interested in the same topic or area;
- Promote the Consensus during events and conferences;
- Facilitate and share experiences, knowledge and tools within the IWC network to support signatories in meeting their commitments.
Any local government willing to share its experience in a water-related sector to help and support other cities can apply to become a champion city.
